Really good and easy too. I didn't have tarragon and so I only used some Old Bay seasoning and information technology was groovy.
10/15/2007
This was the start time I've ever made crab cakes and they were the best ones I've e'er tasted! I did add together old bay, used a petty actress crabmeat and rolled them lightly in breadstuff crumbs mixed with parmesan cheese because I wanted to seal in the flavor and wasn't sure if they would stay together properly without. I always had crab cakes with alot of bready type fillers and never actually cared for them until I made these. Huge hit with husband, tin can't wait to make them again!Thank you!
07/27/2005
This recipe is a mild flavour. It is great. We are not a seafood-loving family unit but nosotros really liked this. Since I have an allergy to wheat I substituted cornflakes for crackers. I bet the crackers would have fabricated information technology meliorate.
03/14/2006
I've never liked crab before, simply for some reason I found myself with a whole fresh crab and I needed a recipe! This seemed to be one of the easier crab recipes and to a nonseafood eater--it was okay! I had everything except the tarragon--had no idea what to replace it with. Easy to brand, and my married man said it tasted like other crab cakes he'south eaten! If you aren't a seafood type, I suggest a little less crab and more crackers...maybe more than seasonings. I'd eat them once more!
02/21/2008
taste really practiced! simply i suggest using existent crab only because the starting time fourth dimension i used imitation crab and it wasn't that good...the existent stuff is way better.
02/14/2007
this is an piece of cake and excellent recipe. I made it for superbowl and made 100 of them equally we had a big party. anybody loved these and wanted the recipe... thank you it'south crawly.....
02/01/2008
This is a great recipe -- enough filler to "stretch" crabmeat (which is pricey even here on the Maine coast) but non too much to mask information technology. Thanks!
08/05/2008
absolutely superb. My husband could not stop raving about information technology. I bought crab legs from the marketplace and shelled them and had fresh crab meat to make the crab cakes. What a wonderful recipe... Cheers give thanks yous. Daffydilone
07/31/2010
Excellent and very easy. I substituted old bay for tarragon, vidalia onions for green, and whole grain cracker crumbs. Everyone raved! I served it with a chilled sauce of one cup mayo, 1 cup sour cream, i/2 cup yogurt, i/2 cup salsa, 1/8 t white pepper, 1/8 t onetime bay. Really succulent!
12/29/2011
This was the first time that I have ever made crab cakes. These turned out to be the all-time that I have e'er had! I used simulated crab and could not tell the difference between the real crab. These were lemony tasting and not fishy at all. I will definitely make these again. I liked them so much that I made ii batches in the same day. The only change that I made was using false crab meat and a light sprinkling of dill. I would likewise recommend blistering them rather than pan frying because they hold together much better. Bake at 350 degrees for twenty minutes, turning over after 10 minutes. Thanks for posting this recipe.
03/10/2012
This was my showtime time making crab cakes, and they were astonishing!! I love this recipe! I was nervous that the crab cakes would autumn apart when I cooked them, but they didn't! I doubled the recipe, since the can of crab that I bought was 16 ounces. I also substituted panko for the crushed buttery round crackers. I plant a recipe, on allrecipes, for a red pepper sauce. I was very pleased with this sauce besides. I had a few leftover crab cakes, and then I froze them and reheated them ii weeks later. They were as skillful every bit they were the first time. These crab cakes are easy and delicious. I would brand them again.
12/25/2012
Doubled this recipe and made information technology for Christmas. Used Old Bay instead of tarragon per other reviews, and also rolled in staff of life crumbs and grated parmesean cheese. Used remoulade sauce on the side. Very easy and VERY good!!!
06/14/2010
The crab cakes were ok. Kinda banal. I felt like information technology was missing something but couldn't put my finger on what. I did utilise tin can crab and then that may have been the problem. I think fresh crab would accept been ameliorate. It seemed the mayo and lemon over powered the crab. I added more crackers just it even so was very runny. Next time I will use less mayo and lemon juice.
04/19/2010
These are THE Best!!! These were so incredible! I used reduced fat Ritz (all I had) and doubled this recipe. I used both Tarragon and some Old Bay. I too increased the crushed red pepper. I baked these in my convection oven for virtually eight minutes per side. Served these upwards with fresh squeezed lemon and some Tabasco and we were in HEAVEN! The best crab cakes I've fabricated. A must endeavor!
12/28/2010
I similar these and they came together rapidly. All the same, you just tin can't make crab cakes without Onetime Bay and so I added that and left out the tarragon. I'll exist serving these for New Twelvemonth's Eve. Thanks! :o)
09/27/2011
I made this tonight with fresh crab meat. We have a place on the SC Coast and blue crabs are plentiful. I used hook meat every bit well as the lump (torso) meat and doubled the recipe. Like other reviewers, I as well coated my cakes in Italion bread crumbs before frying. I as well added a touch of Old Bay to the crab mixture. They held together just fine and looked cracking. Everyone agreed that they were delicious. I love crab cakes just I am picky about them. These were more crab and not so bready like some. Equally good as any I've eaten anywhere and worth the trouble to pick fresh venereal! The recipe itself is super easy!
02/29/2012
This recipie is really like shooting fish in a barrel and my hubby (who doesnt like seafood) loves them. The only thing I have changed is I utilize garlic powder instead of the tarragon as I dont have that in the house. I let them sit in the refrigerator for an hour prior to putting them in the oven. One time in the oven at 350 degrees I cook for half dozen-8 mins per side then broil them for until I have the desired crispiness which is usually for another 3-5 mins per side. I serve information technology with my ceasar salad and some tartar sauce.
07/11/2012
Super yummy! I made these on a whim with a two dollar can of ghetto wal-mart crab meat and onion powder instead of green onions and they were still good! (Now THAT is saying something) For a sauce I ate them with a mix of mayo, sour foam, and cilantro. nice piddling tiffin!
12/20/2010
These were perfect as is. I'm new to cooking, so didn't know butter could burn so fast, next time volition utilise lower heat. Otherwise terrific!
01/06/2011
All I tin say is WOW. . .this is the all-time crab cake recipe I have always tasted!
07/26/2011
These were good, but certainly non the best ever.
05/26/2010
Works with tuna! I didn't have crab, ruby-red pepper, or tarragon, merely these sounded so good I wanted to try them. I doubled the other ingredients, used 3 - 5oz. cans of tuna, and 1 teaspoon of Pride of Szeged fish rub for the spices I didn't have. Distressing to mess with a perfectly good recipe, but these are great. Mine made 10 cakes.
ten/xix/2013
These are the best I've fabricated in a long time! I did non have tarragon and so used One-time Bay, the crab was Bumble Bee brand and I used ii cans - will try to find fresh next time although the tin is fine. I did add a few more crackers too. Served with corn on the cob and Tartar Sauce 2 and Wild West Coast Seafood Shrimp Cocktail Sauce.
05/20/2012
I fabricated these for the Preakness Race in 2012 and they were incredibly good! These were the changes that I made: *1 packet of Old Bay Crab Cake Seasoning *iv Tablespoons of Panko crumbs instead of the cracker crumbs. *I sprayed a baking canvas with Olive Oil Pam and baked at 350 for 8 minutes on each side. Then, I switched the oven to broil and broiled until golden on each side (about 3-4 minutes each side). This recipe made xv iv.5 inch patties. I garnished them with a fresh lemon piece and a sprinkle of fresh dill and served them with Tartar Sauce and Brownish Spiced Mustard.
05/29/2014
Information technology'south a good base recipe. I had never made crab cakes before then I was going into this as an experiment. I am a home cook, merely my appetite says I am a professional person chef. I decided to give mine a Mediterranean flair. I replaced the Mayo with Greet yogurt, used a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of cooking wine, and I used a generous amount of sage, orange peel and paprika. I also used panko instead of crushed crackers. I only added until I liked the consistency. Honestly, if you follow this recipe I would apply much more seasoning that it calls for. Never underestimate the power of common salt and pepper, either. Crab is a VERY strong flavour, and you lot don't desire your spices to give up. Practiced to pair with Mediterranean spiced grits or Tzatziki sauce.
11/09/2011
These were smashing and piece of cake to make. I substituted breadcrumbs for the crackers and i tbls fat gratuitous greek yogurt & 2 tbls dijon mustard for the mayo. Information technology tasted wonderful!
06/22/2009
I fabricated the recipe exactly as stated and information technology was wonderful. The only complaint I have is I should have made more!
03/31/2010
I tried all the other recipes for cake with the one thousand thousand ingredients and none tastes as practiced equally this one. Unproblematic but succulent. My hubby loved it. My father north law (who likes naught) loved them also.
08/18/2014
I recently went crabbing in Oregon at Netarts Bay and caught our limit of Dungeness Crab. We ate equally many crabs as nosotros could and decided to make the remaining crab into crab cakes. I pulled up this recipe and was not disappointed. I wouldn't change a thing. They were dandy.
02/28/2009
Actually good and easy likewise. I didn't have tarragon so I but used some Former Bay seasoning and the sauce actually complemented the flavors. They freeze very well also. My family loved them and want them all of the time.
01/16/2011
These were really practiced! I fabricated them tonight for dinner & they were very good! I doubled them & fabricated them exactly as chosen for except I didn't have tarragon so I replaced it with crushed fresh garlic. Then I added i 1/ii sleeves of crushed ritz crackers to the mixture cause information technology was very moisture. After I mixed everything I formed patties & dipped it in italian breadstuff crumbs to give it a coating. They were very good although I felt they could use a fiddling sauce & the idea of mustard wasn't highly-seasoned so I will accept to find a sauce for them, only other than that they were great!
08/11/2009
These were WONDERFUL! I used a scrap less mayo and cracker crumbs than the recipe chosen for, and I do non think they could take been improved upon any farther. I used lump blue crab meat and thought it was perfect for this. I will definitely make these again.
07/eleven/2010
Quick, easy, and delicious! I changed a couple of things to arrange our family unit's sense of taste. Instead of tarragon, I put in 1/2 tsp of seasoning salt. I also used i/16 tsp of Cayenne Pepper instead of carmine pepper flakes. Even with those changes, the crab cakes were simply amazing!
10/29/2009
Very yummy. Nosotros used 2 Tablespoons of mayo and 1/4 teaspoon of Ruby-red pepper flakes.
02/08/2012
I made these with canned salmon instead of crab because that's what I had in the pantry. I left out the tarragon and replaced the buttery crackers with Panko crumbs. I and so added a couple of tablespoons of Asian Chili/Garlic sauce for flavour and color. All other ingredients were the same equally the original. I baked them at 400 degrees for xx minutes, until slightly browned on edges. Dainty and spicy!!
08/09/2009
wonderful recipe. I used fresh Alaskan crab from Valdez. I used onion pulverisation just I know onions would exist good too. Get a little easier on the blood-red pepper flakes if yous want a kid to eat them, otherwise GREAT
07/04/2019
Good, but non the best e'er. No Marylander in her correct mind would put tarragon and light-green pepper in a crab cake. The whole thought of making and enjoying crab cakes is the sole cistron that blueshell crab is to be mostly enjoyed for the full, absolutely, total gustatory modality of the crab. Green pepper and tarragon take the crab in another management.
02/28/2012
Great recipe. very easy. I used Quondam Bay Blackening seasoning and didn't have tarragon. I used more than light-green onions than called for and wished I didn't. As written, I'1000 certain the onion level is fine.
12/thirty/2011
These are fabulous! They are one of the all-time crab cakes I take had. I recommend buying the freshest lump crabmeat y'all can find. That will produce the best tasting crab block. Thanks for sharing!
07/12/2014
My commencement fourth dimension making crab cakes. They were quite delicious. I live on the Gulf Coast in FL so nosotros had blue crab. I followed the recipe pretty close all the same I wanted a little more spice so I made up a cajun seasoning using table salt, dry out mustard, onion pulverization, garlic pulverization, black pepper and cayenne pepper. I didn't accept any tarragon and so I used the cajun seasoning instead. Then after I mixed it up it was a little wetter than needed so I put panko bread crumbs on the outside and fried in coconut oil! The hubby and I were very happy! ! Great quick piece of cake recipe.
07/10/2010
these are the best crab cakes I've e'er made. I actually don't similar a lot of filler in my crab cakes. Everyone raves when I brand these.
08/03/2014
This recipe was amazing didn't have tarragon then I used minced garlic instead... I likewise added garlic salt, New Orleans seasoning and a pocket-size corporeality of parm cheese... Best iv ever had!!! We would most def make this over again!!
09/18/2011
These were really good! I didn't take tarragon on paw, then I used fennel instead, and I also broiled them instead of making them in a skillet. I also substituted crushed garlic croutons for the buttery round crackers and the crab cakes held together nicely. I served baked sweet murphy fries as a side. Delish!
06/02/2009
These were first-class! I took some other members' advice and added old mill seasoning instead of tarragon and I added more than than the suggested amount of cracker crumbs, so that the mixture wasn't every bit wet. I also added a couple dashes of hot sauce and about half a teaspoon of spicy chocolate-brown mustard and I rolled the cakes in italian bread crumbs and brushed them with butter before broiling them for about 10 minutes on each side (until aureate dark-brown). They had an amazing, rich flavor to them, and my (somewhat disquisitional) fiance actually loved them! This was my first fourth dimension ever making crab cakes and information technology certainly will not be my last!
09/29/2011
DEEEELISH!
07/31/2012
These were different then what I am utilize too simply I did enjoy them. I chilled my cakes for a few hours later I fabricated them then that they would concur together amend.
12/26/2008
These were very good and browned nicely. But i was unable to form a nice patty the mixture was very wet, so i added more of the breadcrumb mixture, which over powered the crab sense of taste. Then next time i will defintely add together more than crab because i dearest a lot of crab gustation.Otherwise very good will make over again. Cheers for the recipe.
12/12/2011
This was 1 of our favorite recipes! Nosotros did add dark-green and orange bell peppers and onion to information technology and a piddling bit more than crackers! This recipe was amazing.!! Nosotros volition definately be making this again. We also fabricated a dainty spicy mayonnaise based sause to go with it, and it worked out amazing!! You will not regret making this recipe!!
01/19/2011
Wonderful flavor! I was looking for something unlike than the Old Bay/Worchestershire/Mustard flavoring and this was it. I didn't have any tarragon so substituted dill as I think information technology goes groovy with any seafood. I took another reviewers suggestion and broiled them about vii minutes per side. A nice crispy result without any butter or oil. Even though it is the heart of January we had these with cole slaw and murphy salad gauge nosotros're only wishing for summer. Too topped them with unseasoned roasted ruddy pepper. Will definitely be making again.
08/24/2011
This was so good!! I served it with Cucumber-Mango Salsa over lemon dill rice, and it got the best reviews at dinner time! I wish I had pressed the liquid out of the imitation crab I used though and chopped information technology up, it was likewise mushy although it held together when I cooked it.
10/05/2008
Very proficient crab cakes. No crackers on hand and so I used Italian bread crumbs instead. I doubled the recipe and made 6 crabcakes which three average size adults consumed without trouble together with steamed asparagus and salad.
12/eighteen/2010
I enjoyed these crab cakes however my husband thought it had also much lemon. I had to substitute butter crackers for saltines and they were still bang-up.
08/25/2014
These crab cakes were AMAZING! And so easy to make!! We prepared them merely as instructed with i exception - we divide the mayo amount in 1/2 and with the remaining 1/2 used whole grain mustard. Perfection!
03/02/2012
Amazing!! We endeavour crab cakes at every eating house we become to, and these were our favorite!! Nosotros have the ability to brand them anytime we want!! I might add corn to it next fourth dimension.
12/27/2010
yummy. make sure you drain the crab meat well or else they will be very runny. i used japanese bread crumb. yum yum
06/02/2009
Peachy recipe! Very basic and all you need to make a restuarant quality block. Go easy on the breading if y'all want information technology to be very "rich". I didn't have tarragon just added a few dashes of sometime bay as others suggested. Also didn't use butter in the skillet simply fat gratis pam instead.
08/10/2010
Loved it!!! Nifty taste, very easy to make.
05/22/2012
Me and my family didnt similar. It was ok
08/25/2011
Bully recipe. I left out the greenish onions/tarragon & added two teaspoons of sometime bay seasoning. My family devoured them.
12/thirty/2010
Awsome, TYVM...Made these for 3 different holiday parties on the aforementioned nighttime and they were the hit of all the parties. Of form I had the simulated crab somebody gave me..(I exercise not similar seafood) I tin can't wait to utilize the real thing. I added horseradish cheese into the mix (Too a gift) and left over stuffing in with the crackers. OMGoooodness. didn't accept tarragon used dill. again....Thank you lot ..thankyou...Thanks..
02/24/2013
Pretty elementary and pretty tasty. I recommend chilling the crab cakes earlier frying to help them stay together.
12/20/2006
It was skilful, but kind of banal. I think this may be my fault as I used can crab instead of fresh crab. There wasn't much going on hither, more similar crab biscuits... Served with Creamy Dill Sauce (e'er skillful). Would try this again with fresh crab, maybe imitation crab. Just needs more flavor.
12/07/2008
fantastic!!! Thank yous for a corking recipe!
04/21/2011
Family really enjoyed this. Did not have tarragon so don't know if was missed. Very practiced and nice that it did not utilize staff of life crumbs.
07/04/2019
Well I didn't even carp. What'southward with all that lemon juice?! In fairness, I alive in Baltimore. Nosotros know crab cakes. Where's the Old Bay? Trust me on this folks.
10/13/2014
We accept used this recipe twice and it just keeps getting better each time. Made them for 12 people and everyone remarks how delicious.
08/11/2014
Easy. Delish and I would make again ! I as well used sometime bay seasoning & I likewise used real & fake crab meat. Information technology was just fine
01/24/2013
These were adept, and would probably have been better equally a big meal size crab cake, which is what the recipe intended. I made smaller titbit sized cakes and the consensus was, smaller cakes require a bit more than pop, where equally a larger one needs to be milder.
xi/28/2011
After substituting old bay for the tarragon these were some of the best crab cakes I've ever eaten. Information technology will definitely stay in my recipe box.
12/30/2012
I made this for Xmas eve..information technology was excellent...I tried the blistering method after reading some of the reviews and it came out perfect...I Will exist making the again and again...
ten/12/2007
I've tried quite a few Crab Cake recipes and this recipe is by far the all-time. Information technology deserves v stars!
06/sixteen/2007
Nosotros dearest this recipe. Groovy alternative to those who do non like strong seasonings (such equally bay).
06/09/2013
Recipe fails to mention common salt and pepper to taste. I dont like tarragon and then substituted dried basil. Super like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious, volition definitely make these once again.
08/07/2008
This is a good recipe that'southward piece of cake to brand adjustments to. I had some canned crab that I bought on sale, so I used it. I didn't have buttery crackers then I used quick cooking oatmeal. I used some freshly dried tarragon from my garden and sauted the cakes in olive oil instead of butter. They were beautiful and succulent! I can't await to endeavor this recipe again!
08/25/2014
Very good and quick to fix.
10/18/2006
Didn't have tarragon, used canned crabmeat and used potatoe fries (instead of breadstuff crumbs, because of allergy) - VERY YUMMY!!!
01/01/2012
Very good, but mine barbarous apart. Not pretty, only yummy.
09/20/2011
Amazing crab cakes. A great style to employ left over crab if yous ever have any...
08/15/2014
Really tasty! But even with going by the volume on ingredients they wanted to intermission autonomously.
06/12/2010
Thanks for posting this terrific recipe!! Added Grey Poupon, Old Bay and some minced bong pepper. These were some of the best crab cakes I take e'er had! Served with Remoulade a la New Orleans from this site (which is besides delicious)! Thanks again!!
01/29/2008
Best crab cakes I have e'er had and I have eaten quite a few on the East coast in Maryland. Very moist and held together very skillful without a lot of fillers, simply expert ol crabmeat!
04/30/2009
These crab cakes were and so piece of cake to make and just equally delicious equally in a fancy restaurant. I will certainly exist making these again.
07/29/2007
I used regular bread crumbs and I didn't have tarragon and then I used Old bay seasoning TM and added a little garlic powder and tobasco and a little dijon mustard and it was wonderful! My husband LOVED IT!!! He'due south very picky and said these were the best crab cakes he'd always eaten. It HAS to exist the best. :-) Cheers!
09/26/2008
Fantastic! We came back from the shore with a bunch of leftover crab meat that we had picked from our steamed venereal and decided to effort this recipe for crab cakes. Male child, are we glad that we did! They are as easy to make equally they are succulent. Didn't last long in my business firm!
03/06/2008
These really are great as is, Ive made them numerous times.
12/sixteen/2008
CRAB TASTE IS Non OVER-POWERED BY Besides MUCH SPICE AND ONIONS. GREAT, Elementary RECIPE.
04/12/2011
Showtime off I have never had a Crab cake, only I do like Crab legs so I thought what the heck. Long story short I ended have Three Corn Dogs for dinner. I am not sure if it was because I baked them instead of frying them, or the fact that the crab gustatory modality was and so stiff only I will not be making these once again. Now my wife on the other hand loved them. She not only ate both of her extra big patties, merely also scooped mine off my plate and ate them too. I too followed another reviewers advice and made the "Remoulade Sauce A La New Orleans" recipe from this site. She loved that too. I fifty-fifty call up I caught her spooning some into her oral fissure. As for me the Crab taste was just besides stiff.
10/28/2014
I thought the corporeality of tarragon was high, so I cut it in half and added the same amount of creole seasoning. Information technology was still too much tarragon (only a hint of tarragon definitely adds something to the crab cakes). If I were to do the recipe again, I would cut the mayo in half also. All the mayo and crackers was too much filling. I liked the fact that at that place was no celery or peppers in there though. Lots of skilful thoughts in the recipe; but needed to be brought together.
05/05/2009
These are so piece of cake and wonderful! The simply change I fabricated was to add together a little more cayenne to make them a footling spicy.
03/fourteen/2011
These were great, however I fabricated some changes. I added 2 table spoons worcester sauce and topped them with a little breadstuff crumbs and old bay. I and then baked them at 375 for 20-25mins.
06/thirty/2014
Really smashing recipe! Next time I will employ less mayo and add diced red pepper and garlic. I used leftover capinno from a seafood restaurant in Minneapolis. All-time leftover idea!
07/06/2019
I've made these 3 times now and they are first-class!! Afterwards reading several reviews I added 1/2 tap of Old Bay seasoning. I also constitute that I needed about 2 T of additional
03/23/2015
I did not drain the canned crab meat most enough, making the mix so wet I had to add Manner besides much crushed crackers to it to get it to a consistency I could use. That meant that the overwhelming flavor was store bought crackers. Adjacent time I think I'll use dryer meat, and also perhaps a more neutral folder, like breadcrumbs.
01/25/2019
Delicious! I added extra lemon juice and extra crackers. I will oestrus the skillet on medium-low side by side time, as they got pretty charred on the first side I cooked. DONT FORGET to serve with a delicious sauce!
05/xiii/2013
AMAZING!! Added minced sweet onion and garlic..... Flavor Country
10/27/2015
Enjoyed the recipe. I added a lilliputian Siriachi for some rut. Dainty!
08/09/2013
These were a little bland to me. The second time making I modified it quite a flake. And so I guess I created my own recipe. I added salt, Dijon mustard, parsley, sautéed onion and dark-green pepper. I liked it much better.
03/eighteen/2013
Made in that location for my wife and she loved them, but said they could take been a little more flavorful. I did accept to use Former Bay seasoning like some others because my local super market didn't have tarragon. Information technology was pretty piece of cake to brand but I too had to utilise more than crackers than what was listed to get the right consistency.
